Thank you Lisa for our bundle of joy that we call Hopey. Our baby/princess/diva brings us much happiness. Going through this process with Lisa has been fantastic. She is kind, knowledgeable, and dedicated to her pups and finding good families for them. From the very beginning, to this day, Lisa made herself available to any questions or concerns we had. She is also genuinely interested in the updates we give her. She is always our first choice as babysitter for Hopey.
We confidently recommend Lisa Maki and Cahladen Kennels-breeder of Standard Wirehaired Dachshunds. Renate and Ron Roberts -Abbotsford BC

"Benz has been our little blessing in disguise, our family was going through a rough time as Benz joined our family. Benz and Matthias became best friends from the moment they met, Benz running after Matthias in Lisa's kitchen nipping him in the bum and have been inseparable since. The entire experience of meeting Lisa, Rick and the boys (along with all the dogs) has been a great experience. Lisa has a wealth of information and tips to share about raising and training the pups and you can tell everything she does, she does with a lot of passion. We highly recommend Lisa and Cahladen Kennels to everyone looking for the cutest dogs in town!" Mike Stan White Rock BC
"When I first lost my standard wirehair dachshund I never thought I would find another dog like him. Then one day I stumbled upon Lisa's website. It said she was expecting puppies soon, so I messaged her right away. It was one of the best decisions I ever made. She listened to my story and left the choice up to me and never did I feel pressured. Since I live in the states there were special concessions that had to be made to bring my puppy home and Lisa took care of everything! I can't imagine a happier puppy. Nothing gets him down, he's well adjusted, and the brightest puppy. I can't imagine my life without Rogue and I have Lisa to thank for that."Heather-Janine Kell Los Angles California

One paragraph does not come close to describe the gifts Lisa and Rick Maki have as breeders and as a family. We became a part of that family from the first phone call. Lisa kept us informed and updated weekly during the time of conception, growth of Mom, birth and growth of our new puppy. Lisa's attention to detail of the health and nurturing care of these dogs is immeasurable. She and Rick love them as their own, with patience and TLC to ensure the dogs are calm, quiet, healthy, socialized, balanced members of the family. Lisa is also very in tune to the pups personalities and quirks to perfectly match their new family's lifestyle.
When we visited our Toulouse aka "Moosey Toulousey" at 6 weeks we were smitten. Not just with our pup, but with Lisa, Rick and their beautiful boys - and of course all the rest of the dogs.
Because of all the extra care Lisa devotes to her puppies the transition to a new home was effortless. Toulouse went from their arms to ours without a whimper.
Toulouse is a very smart, snugly, friendly little clown who gives us endless joy.
I am thrilled to have found Cahladen Kennels and a friendship that will last for many years to come.

We just love this little guy. He is a beautiful example of a WH dachshund. He is pure gold with Kyra and all of her other friends who are anywhere from 2 yrs. old and up. You wouldn't believe how forgiving and playful he is. He is very cuddly and rolls around on the floor with the kids cuddling and kissing. While he does have puppy energy he is quite a calm little guy. He settles easily and has great nerves.... I think though... he will excel in tracking. His soul is driven through scent. I can see that when we are in the woods etc. He is filled with joy hunting mice under the snow or old woodpiles etc....finding multitudes of things on the beach.
My priority for a puppy was great temperament, and healthy sound structure. I definitely got that with Piper. His personality with toddlers and kids is worth a million bucks and he is well on his way to getting his CKC championship.
To sum up his personality
Resilient- excellent nerves.
Mischievous but not very naughty
Full of potential. He is absolutely perfect with kids and is Kyra's best friend. He is our wonderful family dog....but has the potential to compete in Obedience or scent work if we wanted to do that.
Everybody comments on his great conformation and strong bone. Beautiful brown kind eyes with a very loving facial expression.

Thank you so much for him
Cheers, Tania

After 17 years with great danes, I was ready for a "small" dog! I had my heart set on a wirehaired dachshund like the ones I knew in Czech Republic. I searched for breeders online and found Cahladen Kennels last fall. Lisa was great throughout the whole process - knowledgeable, helpful, caring, and funny. It was clear from the beginning that her pups are truly part of her family! We made the plan to pick up Kesugi in Seattle on our way back home to Alaska from the east coast. There were a couple obstacles along the way, but Lisa was determined to make it work for us! Kesugi is now 9 months old. He has a great disposition with our girls, other dogs, and our cat. Even though he is a teenager and often looks for trouble, he is very smart and (mostly) willing to learn! I am certain that we have Lisa and her family to thank for such a positive start! Thanks!
